Shock Absorber Strut Insert Clarification 15 October 2011

Share

A clarification or correction has been issued today by Speedway Sedans Australia, after the new Modified Production Sedan Specification Book was printed and issued earlier this year.

The failure to remove a section from the book, from a meeting held in September 2007, has caused much constination, and effectively made most cars in the category non compliant with the current book.

Page 37, Section 22(h) states-

"Shock Absorbers/Strut Inserts: Standard sealed replacement units only. No external adjustment/adjusters. No cabin adjustment of shock allowed e.g. no external resevoir/cannister type or external gas pressure adjustment e.g. increase/decrease gas pressure."

This ruling would stop most, if not all, Modified Productions from competing.

The following was passed at the 8th/9th September 2007 Board Meeting.

Modified Production - Suspension Rule 22 (h).

Remove 22(h) total wording and replace wording with- Shock Absorbers/Strut Inserts: No external resevoir/cannister type. No cabin adjustments.

Somehow this was overlooked through the Draft.

The Technical Committee has accepted this ruling.

Speedway Sedans Australia apologise for the oversight, and hope this clarifies sufficiently the situation.
