David Nichols was victorious last night in Round One of the Walsh Marine Services Tasmanian Super Sedan Series held at the Solo Hobart Raceway.

In the off season Nichols purchased a Sweet Chassis from Queensland manufacturer Matty Pascoe.

Nichols took to his new car like a duck to water, winning heat one from pole position. He led home Steve Latham, who held off last seasons series winner Adam Beechey for 3rd.

In heat two Dwaine Sonners took the win again from pole position. He took the win from the hard charging Callum Harper who debuted a brand new Cornette engine, and Laura Davidson crossed the line 3rd.

By virtue of their heat wins Nichols and Sonners would start the 25 lap A Main from the front row. Nichols got the jump at the start and moved into a comfortable lead, at one stage leading by half a lap. There was a great tussle for 2nd, 3rd and 4th, with Latham, Harper, and Beechey running side by side for laps on end.

A late yellow brought Nichols back to the chasing pack, but would lead away from the green light and go on to take the chequered flag. Beechey won the scrap with Latham with a brilliant pass on the outside to take out 2nd place, and Latham would round out the podium in 3rd. Laura Davidson crossed the line 4th, ahead of Leon Cleary in 5th.
