This weekend’s Mainspray Street Stock Summer Cup at the Make Smoking History Bunbury Speedway is gearing up to be the biggest in the events long and prestigious history.

Doubling up as the second round of the Novus Glass Street Stock Month of Madness, the event has attracted a huge field of 58 drivers, including 20 of the 22 who started last weekend’s State Championship final.

Current State Champion Jamie Oldfield, National Champion Anthony Beare and Michael Hamon will headline the event with all three drivers having success at the venue in the past. Oldfield won his first National Street Stock Championship in 2005, Beare the 2012 State Title and Hamon is the reigning Summer Cup Champion and was the winner of the Production Sedan State Title in October at the Bunbury Bullring.

A strong local contingent of drivers will try and defend their home turf with David Padmore heading that list, who is one of 13 drivers who didn’t contest the State Title entering the second round of the Madness.

Not to be outdone, a great field of Junior Sedans are also on hand to contest the KJB Fabrication Junior Sedan Showdown, an event rescheduled from a rain out in November.

The Buszan Brothers, Brandon and Jaxon have both been strong around the region as the pair look to take the victory in both the Top Star and New Star categories.

Racing is scheduled to start at 5pm.
