Rodney Pammenter has claimed a commanding feature race win during round 3 of the Steering & Suspension Warehouse Modified Sedan Series held at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway.

The feature race got underway at approx. 10pm on very fast and hooked up race track after another delay to the night, after rain earlier in the event and then due to a Sprintcar ripping down the catch fence during their feature race, the event prior.

Despite the delay, Barry Waldron and John Kelly and their team quickly repaired the catch fence to ensure the Modified Sedan feature and the rest of the night could be run.

Rodney Pammenter jumped away to a handy lead and was flying during the early stages of the feature. Nathan Macdonald, Shane Macdonald, Max Clarke, Aidan Raymont and Darran Lester engaged into an epic battle as they all pressed forward during the twenty five lap feature race.

As the battle intensified during her early stages, Raymont made contact with the fence, breaking his bead lock on the right rear. Josh Arthur started to make his way forward as he passed Lester who later retired to the infield with a mechanical failure.

As the race settled into a grove Greg Worling’s car slowed down the back straight which caused Darren Baldwin, David Head and Ty Francis to make heavy contact which brought on the yellows once again. At the restart, Pammenter again jumped away throwing down the fastest lap of the night as he quickly opened up a comfortable lead over Max Clarke.

Further back in the field, Chris Evans driving the Nissan 300zx (B Main winner) had worked his way into position five and began to close in on Shane Macdonald and Josh Arthur who battled for third. Evans managed to close the gap, but would finish fifth.Pammenter held on to win ahead of Max Clarke, Shane Macdonald and Josh Arthur who rounded out the top four.

Earlier in the night, Heat one got underway with Mick Shelford jumping away to an early lead while a number of awesome battles developed throughout the field. Chris Evans was sent infield as officials thought he had fuel coming out of the Nissan 300zx while Darran Lester worked his way to second and then chased down Mick Shelford and passed him for the win.

Nathan Macdonald got the jump in heat 2 while Rodney Pammenter worked his way forward through the field. Max Clarke was also able to quickly work his way to second where he chased down race leader Nathan Macdonald.

Pammenter closed in the front two and a titanic battle played out that ultimately saw Pammenter get the win ahead of Macdonald and Clarke.Heat 3 saw Shane Macdonald run away to a comfortable lead. Behind him, Quinton Clarke, Aidan Raymont and Darren Baldwin engaged in a fierce contest.

On the final lap Clarke’s Commodore expired which saw Raymont hit the back of Clarke causing him to spin on the final corner. Darren Baldwin crossed second with Ty Francis finishing third. Raymont would end up crossing the line in sixth.Race got underway with Peter White jumping away to an early lead.

White was looking good while Chook Geritz worked his way around the top passed Darran Lester for second position. Chook was looking solid until his car slowed mid way through the 10 lap heat race. Nathan Macdonald who started from position ten railed the top of the fence to work his way into contention.

With only a couple of laps to run, Macdonald pulled a brilliant move on White and Lester to get the lead and run home to win. Lester finished second ahead of Peter White.Raymont started from pole position and was never troubled to win by a big margin. Shane Macdonald was fast and worked his way forward to finish second ahead of Jordan Cunningham.

Heat 6 was another easy win this time for Max Clarke who was super impressive. Rodney Pammenter again worked his way through the field around the top of the hooked up Toowoomba race track to finish second.

Greg Worling finished third ahead of the battle of the race between Ty Francis, Chris Evans, Mick Shelford and Darren Baldwin.

The B Main was plan sailing that went flag to flag without a stoppage. Chris Evans jumped away and ran away with a big win. Evans was super quick during the B Main on the freshly prepared track after rain swept the venue briefly and caused a pause in proceedings.

David Head finished second ahead of Steven Quirk and Jake Hawkins. Darren Ciesiolka finished fifth just missing the transfer spot ahead of Jason Schloss, Shannon Blackburn, Kipp Barron, Luke Townsend and Leonie Knight.

Earlier in the night Max Clarke, Greg Worling, Peter White and Ty Francis all won $250 cash prizes courtesy of the round sponsor Queensland Support Services & Solutions who donated $1,000 in cash to the event.

These four drivers names were selected at random at drivers briefing in another cool initiative at the Toowoomba venue.

Round 4 of the Series will be held on April 24 when another big field of Modified Sedans will converge on Toowoomba which doubles as the final hitout before the PS Designer Homes T-Bar Nationals is held on 8 & 9 May.

Huge thanks to Steering & Suspension Warehouse, along with Queensland Support Services & Solutions and Charlton Raceway Inc for making this series possible.

Huge thanks to the drivers for their support of this event and the team at Toowoomba, led by John Kelly and Barry Waldron for getting the event finished on time despite a rain delay, multiple rollovers and a major wreck that caused extensive damage the catch fence during the Sprintcar feature race, just before the Modified Sedans hit the track.
