Lockyer Valley Speedway in Gatton will host the first ever event of its time with the Modified Sedan Knockout being held this Saturday night.

The unique event carries an initiative format that ultimately sees a finale where the top 2 cars battle it out head to head to win the $1,000 winner cheque at the end of the night.

All competitors will contest hot laps to start the night which will be followed by single car 2 lap time trails. The time trails will determine the starting position in the opening heat with the fastest driving starting from position six as heat 1 sees and six car invert with 7th fastest starting from 7th and so on. The second heat will line up again with a six car invert but this will be off aggregate points from time trials and the opening heat race finishing positions.

After both heats the field will be split into two for 10 lap mini features with highest point scorers starting off the front. The top 4 finishes in both mini features will then transfer through the main event – the Modified Sedan Knockout.

A series of knockout dashes will then be held that ultimately sees the field reduced to two remaining competitors who will contest the final showdown which are 3 x 2 cars, 2 lap races. The winner of the final showdown will be crowned the Modified Sedan knockout and receive the $1,000 winner’s prize.

A field of eleven drivers has nominated for the event including the current Queensland Champion Tim Weir who comes of a win at Mothar Mountain Speedway last weekend. After limited shows this season Nathan Macdonald has been impressive in the few shows be has competed in and will be another drive to watch. Throw in the likes of Mick Shelford, Darran Lester and Steven Quirk who have all featured at the pointy end of various events this season.
