The first round of the WA Super Sedan Summer Series started tonight at the Hillview Speedway in Newman, the first of three consecutive nights of competition in the North West of Western Australia.

It well have been a new season, with just a field of eleven, but the result was the same as last season, with Gary Higgs winning the first Feature race of the season.

Higgs won all three of his heats, and was joined by Busselton veteran Kevin Bell on the front row of the grid for the Feature.

Unfortunately for Bell he lasted four laps only, on the slick surface, not aided by a windy night in Newman, leaving Higgs to dominate the event.

West Australian Champion, Kodee Brown, who had a relatively quiet night in the heats, drove a great race in the final to move from an initial starting position of six, to finish runner up while Dustin Higgs would finish third.

The Super Sedan Stampede 09 continues tomorrow night in Tom Price, before finishing on Sunday night in Port Hedland.
