 :: PRESS RELEASE ::
:: Grand Opening Showdown Super Sedan Thriller

Sunday, October 25, 2009
Jason Crowe - SSA Media

The WA Super Sedan Summer Series was part of the Grand Opening Showdown at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night, with a sensational nights racing, highlighted by a thrilling third race.

The second round of the State wide series saw Dustin Higgs win the opening race after a short rain delay, as inclement weather threatened to derail the opening night. Thankfully that didn't happen as Higgs defeated State Champion, Kodee Brown, while Marc Giancola would finish third.

Brown was able to win the second race, holding of Gary Higgs in a close finish, with Murray Iwanow impressing in third place.

It would be the third race though, that would have the fans talking, with the lead changing hands nine times in the first eight laps, with Kodee Brown and Dustin Higgs trading the lead, with Murray Iwanow and Gary Higgs joining the duo for a four way battle, which saw three wide racing for several laps.

Brown was predominantly using the low line, while Dustin Higgs was making the outside passes. Eventually Dustin Higgs, was able to pass Brown with four to go to hit the lead and go on to win. Brown, Gary Higgs, Murray Iwanow and Marc Giancola would go across the line in close succession.

Dustin Higgs would record two victories on the night but it would be Brown's consistency which would see him win the night, by one point over Dustin Higgs and Gary Higgs.

Brown was ecstatic to win the night, with the State Champion making the massive trip from Broome to compete.

Super Sedans return to the Motorplex on Saturday, 7 November 2009 for round three of the Summer Series.
