 :: PRESS RELEASE ::
:: Dustin Is Our Superman In The West

Tuesday, October 27, 2009
Jason Crowe - SSA Media

Dustin Higgs maybe considered young to most in Super Sedan ranks, but the 20 year old Plant Operator from Western Australia, has already achieved plenty in his short Super Sedan career.

Unlike most, Dustins Danny Smith Rocket Chassis, is not decked out in sponsors colours or plastered with sponsors, but more decked out in a Superman theme, to attract the attention of the younger generation.

"The whole Superman theme, was something that I wanted to do to catch the eyes of the younger generation at the speedway. So far the reponse for it, has been outstanding and is starting the create a legacy of its own. Hopefully more drivers will follow.

Higgs lists his highlights as numerous podium finishes in both Feature Races and Championship events, along with now racing against some West Australian legends, he grew up as a boy watching.

Dustin Higgs is keen to race against the best from the East Coast in the near future, and although not yet confirmed he claims "to have a car that has alot of potential but im very certain the #82 machine will be on Parade in Adelaide. (reference to National Title)

"This season we've struggled with our engine a small amount, It hasn't got the power it had last year. Hopefully later in the season a new power plant maybe just what the doctor ordered". Even so, Higgs broke the 12 lap record at the Grand Opening Showdown on Saturday night at the Perth Motorplex, lowering the old mark held by Frank Does, in the very first race of the season at the venue.

During the off season, the car was single handedly stripped back to the frame and completely rebuilt from the ground up, so after all the hard work, the results are already paying off.

Higgs attributes his father, Gary "Dusty" Higgs as his toughest opponent to beat. "I dont think I would be the only one that thinks this. Once you see a sneak peak of the nose cone you know that he's coming past"

The Super Sedan Summer Series has had two rounds so far in the current season, which has Dustin Higgs sitting in second place behind Gary by 15 points, with the third round again at the Perth Motorplex, on 7 November 2009.

The State Title will be held at Albany over two nights at Easter, with Dustin declaring it to be his favourite track, which spells an ominous warning to the opposition this season.
