Gary Higgs has won a very eventful round five Super Sedan Summer Series Feature Race, at the Kalgoorlie International Speedway on Saturday night.

Higgs would defeat former State Champions Frank Does and Rob Bawdon, with only Dean Shore and Andrew Kennedy finishing behind them.

At the start of the Feature event, Dustin Higgs would make a customary big move on the outside, after starting from position four. Dustin would spin making the move, and was lucky to avoid the oncoming traffic and was subsequently sent to the rear of the field.

The main event was action packed, with Murray Iwanow and Kodee Brown involved in an incident, which saw Iwanow retire to the infield after making heavy contact with the Kalgoorlie concrete wall.

Gary Higgs continued to lead on what was becoming a slick track, narrowly holding off Frank Does, Brown, Bawdon and Dustin Higgs who was making a charge back through the field.

Another yellow light stoppage for a spin, would see more drama, when both Brown and Dustin Higgs would collide heavily, placing both cars on the infield while the yellow lights were still on. Brown raced to Dustin Higgs on the infield to apologise, after two of the leading contenders saw the final laps from the centre.

Higgs would hold on to narrowly defeat Does and Bawdon in a race of attrition. Darren Larsen, would only just make it to the finish line in the Feature race, when the front left brake locked up, and he was forced to watch all twenty laps from centre field. Gary Higgs, who has been in the top three all season, had not won a round since round one, but was dominant at the Goldfields venue, winning all three of his heats.

Several drivers will have plenty of work to do, before the sixth round of the series is held this Saturday night at the Perth Motorplex, where a big field has entered.
