 :: PRESS RELEASE ::
:: Bennett Goes Back To Back At Collie

Sunday, 7 February 2010
Jason Crowe - SSA Media

Almost a year to the day after winning the 2009 Collie Production Sedan Championship, Bunbury based driver, Paul Bennett has defended his title at the Smokefree Collie Speedway last night, winning the Griffin Coal 2010 Collie Championship.

Bennett, defeated up and coming Collie competitor Ricky Nuccini, who finished close behind Bennett, with Damon Trouchet third.

Glen Hoskins retired on lap 21 when holding down a close third place.

The main battle in the race was for the minor placings, with Damon Trouchet having a tremendous battle for the minor placing with Collie young guns Paul Joss and Steven Perry, while Jarred Sutton was also in contention. Lapped cars came into play holding Paul Joss back allowing Steven Perry to move up into fourth place. A mid race distance error cost Perry the fourth place when he received a penalty at the end of the race giving a surprised Paul Joss the fourth place behind Trouchet.

Bennett was jubilant at winning back to back Collie Championships, in a 30 lap Feature Race, which went the full distance without a stoppage. The next major event for Bennett will be the National Championship at Narrogin Speedway in three weeks time.
