Kempton Leads In Carnarvon

Round One of the SSD Street Stock Gold Cup Series kicked off last night, with the first of two nights at Carnarvon Speedway for the annual Stocksville event.

One of WA’s longest running blue ribbon events for Street Stocks, this year’s event has attracted seventeen cars, with local Jace Kempton leading the unofficial points after night one from Kalgoorlie’s Evan Wakefield.

Kempton scored two wins and a second while Wakefield scored two wins and a third from the six heats held on night one. 

Unofficially they are currently followed by Hamish Macalpine and Barry Mason who are tied for third after the opening night preliminaries. 

Kempton, the defending champion of Stocksville is well on track to claim his second win in the event, while former winner Kane Munro has a bit of work ahead of him tonight in the final round of heats before the all-important feature event.

SSD points will be completed after tonight’s action, with racing starting from 6pm.
